Meet caring game changer Mostafa, Improvement Expert

Mostafa shares insights into the skills crucial for his role: from analytical prowess to adapting swiftly in dynamic environments. His background in industrial engineering brings a unique perspective to our innovative approach at Protix, where every day presents new challenges and opportunities for growth.

What is your role at Protix?

I have been with Protix for about seven years now. I started in Dongen as a process operator, after which I switched to rearing operator. After that, we moved to our larger location in Bergen op Zoom. My role is all about optimizing the plant. Improving and analyzing is a big part of my job, to get output as high as possible at the right price.

What skills do you think are most important in your role?

Analyzing and making sure targets are met. It goes beyond meeting production targets. Having worked with the machinery for so long, I can use my knowledge and experience to make sure the department runs even smoother and more efficiently.

To do this job, you need to have the ability to deal with stressful situations and expecting the unexpected. It’s making change happen and not being afraid to do so. We’re building a company that doesn’t exist in this form yet, so the bar we set is automatically high. I worked in the dairy industry before, and, being a mature industry, everything can be replicated because it has been done so many times before. In our industry, it’s inventing, improving, and trying again. We are constantly building and optimizing, looking for improvements in our machinery and processes.

What is your background?

I have a background in industrial engineering, primarily in busses and trucks. These are transferable skills. The big difference is that at Protix, every day is different. I have also learned there are two buckets of knowledge: technical knowledge and education, and organic knowledge that you build through experience over the years. It’s a constant process of learning – step by step and just by doing it.

In addition to my job at Protix, I own a company that builds veranda or deck covers. I like working with my hands and being active, so on the weekends I work on that.

What do you like most about working at Protix?

I really enjoy working with my colleagues – in the early days it was quite intense as we got production going and had to be available 24/7 to solve issues. It builds team spirit and camaraderie. As we have grown and professionalized, we still all work towards the same goal – constant improvement and going international.
