On the path towards Low-footprint-No-footprint proteins.
15 Nov 2023
Food is personal and you decide what to eat, caringly, I hope. It's only when we make these decisions thoughtfully that we can collaboratively work towards low-footprint-no-footprint proteins and foods for a world where we consume in balance with nature.
Food is very personal. It’s about culture, geography, context, emotion, legacy, family, health, familiarity and above all personal taste. Nobody should tell someone else what they should or should not eat. We can merely encourage each other through information, education, inspiration, or experience. And even then, sometimes it’s also just about cost and availability. A so called multi-faceted topic. And yet, it is undeniable that what you eat has an impact on the world. The more we know about where our foods come from, how they are produced and whether they are actually healthy, the more we learn that the planet and our bodies are affected one way or the other.
So, unless you have a hard time coming by, I dare to say you do have a responsibility while you enjoy your foods, and that is to simply care.
Care about the immense system behind the foods on your plate. The thousands of people, companies, vehicles, processors, packagers, retailers and so on, that have put their effort in producing and packaging those foods for you. And even more, the natural resources. The lands and waters, the airs and solar rays, all working together to blossom, grow and nurture the plants, fish and animals that have contributed to the foods you are about to consume.
The global food system is like one big global assembly line from primary resources such as water, CO2 and elements such as nitrogen and carbon. From the plants, seeds and fruits to the animals that eat them or the vegetables that you wish to consume directly. From all that to the fillet and the baked potato with a side of kale on your plate. Everything you consume comes from somewhere and has impact on the environment around us. And that is not sustainable and with Protix we aim to do something about that.
The end-to-end processes that we have developed in-house and proven at scale, can drive a true pathway to low-footprint-no-footprint proteins.
As our business partner John Randal Tyson described it, this is a great opportunity from vertical to circular integration.
We produce ingredients in a controlled environment where we take care of the insects with optimised diets and environment. Through our patented processes and technologies, enhanced by smart algorithms and sensor-feedback controls, we have been able to efficiently produce insect proteins, oils, and other ingredients at a mass scale. All with a footprint over 85% lower than soy and palm oil.
Our centralized IP position allows us to create a network effect with our forward-thinking partners all over the world. Each and every partnership further supports the advancement of the industry and in return further supports the competitive position of the partnership. True knowledge knows no boundaries and we wish to truly unleash the potential of continuous improvement in this new category around the black soldier fly. And this is only the beginning.
Join the future of food today and support us in our strive towards low-footprint-no-footprint proteins and foods such that we can enjoy food while caring for the environment around us.
