Research shows that black soldier fly protein ingredients can enhance gut health

Clostridium perfringens (C. perfringens) is an opportunistic pathogen that can cause serious health issues in pets and livestock.

In this study it was found that in-vitro digestions of black soldier fly proteins significantly inhibit the growth of C. perfringens, modulate microbiota diversity and increase the abundance of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). The study was conducted by Wageningen University & Research and it has been published in the LWT Journal in 2021.

The study aims to inspire the industry to further explore the potential of black soldier fly proteins in combating C. perfringens infections.
