Scientific research shows positive effects of ProteinX on pigs' intestinal microbiota

The 2021 research study by Wageningen Livestock Research, published in Scientific Reports, showed that inclusion of ProteinX into pigs' diets creates more enriched small intestinal microbiome, an indicator of a “healthy gut” in pigs. The study used the latest FeedOmics approach to measure the impact of the dietary black soldier fly larvae ingredients on pigs physiology and health. The black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) meal increased the beneficial Bifidobacterium, while decreasing pathogenic Streptococcus, proving its anti-microbial properties. The study highlighted the functional properties of ProteinX, indicated by the appearance of alpha-aminobutyric acid and taurine in blood plasma of pigs, both known to induce health benefits.
