Scientific study shows black soldier fly protein and lipids can improve broiler leg health, litter quality and production performance

ProteinX and LipidX are valuable sources of high quality nutrition for poultry. A 2022 study by Wageningen University & Research, published in Physiology & Behavior, investigated the effects of different dietary black soldier fly larvae ingredients (protein meal, oil, dried and live larvae) on broiler welfare and production performance.

The findings reveal that incorporating meal (ProteinX from Protix) and oil (LipidX from Protix) into broiler diets can improve leg health, production performance and litter quality.

Insects are a natural source of nutrition for chickens. This study demonstrates that scattering live larvae in broiler surroundings enhances animal welfare by stimulating their natural foraging behaviour.
